Reservoir petrophysical parameters serve as core indicators for evaluating hydrocarbon storage capacity, and their accurate quantitative characterization is of great significance for improving reservoir prediction accuracy and optimizing exploration and development schemes. To address the low prediction accuracy of petrophysical pa‐rameters in gas hydrate reservoirs, this study proposes a quantitative characterization method for reservoir petrophys‐ical parameters based on seismic waveform inversion. First, instantaneous amplitude attributes are extracted from raw seismic trace waveform sequences. A seismic inversion convolution model is established by stacking seismic traces with specified slopes, and amplitude normalization and waveform sequence resampling are performed via syn‐thetic seismogram calibration to achieve the refined reconstruction of seismic waveform characteristics. Second, ac‐cording to the reflection properties of vertically incident waves at gas hydrate reservoir interfaces, recursive seismic waveform inversion is adopted to obtain formation acoustic impedance, based on which key elastic parameters in‐cluding P-wave velocity, S-wave velocity and density are further calculated. Finally, a quantitative mapping relation‐ship between elastic parameters and petrophysical parameters is established using a rock physics model, and a gra‐dient boosting decision tree (GBDT) predictive model is constructed to realize the quantitative inversion and charac‐terization of reservoir porosity and permeability. Field verification results demonstrate that the Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) between the petrophysical parameter predictions of the proposed method and field logging data is greater than 0.8. The predicted values are highly consistent with measured data, verifying the superior quantitative characterization accuracy of the method. The research findings can realize the refined assessment of resource poten‐tial for gas hydrate reservoirs, and provide theoretical basis and data support for reservoir evaluation and exploita‐tion design.
