To investigate the protective effects of different measures on underground drainage pipelines under traffic loading, an integrated three-dimensional finite element model comprising road structure, soft soil subgrade, and drainage pipeline was established. The finite element method was utilized to analyze the protective performance of two methods, namely geogrid reinforcement and rubber-sand mixed soil replacement, for buried drainage pipelines. Specifically, the impacts of varying numbers of geogrid layers (no geogrid, one layer, two layers), geogrid stiffness (no geogrid, 300, 600, 900 MPa), and rubber content in mixed soil (0, 10%, 20%, 30%) on the stress and deformation of the pipelines were systematically investigated. The results indicate that geogrid reinforcement significantly reduces the stress and strain in drainage pipelines under traffic loading by improving the load transfer mechanisms in the pavement structure, and the protective effect is enhanced with the increase geogrid layers and their stiffness increase. Backfilling with rubber-sand mixed soil improves pipeline protection performance by optimizing the distribution of stress and plastic strain, and the mixture with 20% rubber content achieves the optimal effect in reducing strain at all positions of the pipeline.
