Earthquakes with MS≥5 in the South China coastal seismic belt are characterized by active-quiet alternating activity, and the natural occurrence probability of earthquakes with MS≥5 in the active episode increases significantly. This paper collects the research results of precursory anomalies related to earthquakes with MS≥5 in the active episode of the South China coastal seismic belt, analyzes the common characteristics of seismological and geophysical anomalies before M5 earthquakes, and summarizes the medium-term and short-term core indicators with good prediction efficiency. On this basis, the comprehensive analysis of earthquake cases is carried out,and it is proposed that "the South China coastal seismic belt is in the seismically active episode, there are significant medium-term and short-term anomalies, all kinds of anomalies have good synergy and matching, and short-term anomalies occur in both in seismology and geophysics",which can be used as a prediction strategy to judge that earthquakes with MS≥5 in the South China coastal seismic belt have entered the short-term stage. When the above four conditions are met,it indicates that the seismicity with MS≥5 in the South China coastal seismic belt of has entered a short-term stage, and short impending tracking measures should be taken.
